Can I Quote You On That? (Banaue/Baguio Trip 7)

These are a few of the quotes from our weekend wandering the terraces.

“Don’t knock the baby into the rice terraces.” We were climbing down the steps and a baby, probably only a little over 1 year old, was just sitting there. “Remember, if you can climb stairs, you can have sex.”—A quote from the movie “Somethin’s Got to Give” in which he has a heart attack and the doctor says he can’t have sex until he can climb a flight of stairs. Sarah or Erica said this as we were hiking and climbing stairs cut into the side of the mountain, and I nearly fell off the mountain laughing. “If we knew what we were doing, we wouldn’t do have the things we do.”—after starting out on a hike that ended up being longer and more difficult than we planned. To add to our misery/laughter, it started to rain. “It’s not about the destination; it’s about the journey.”—after going on two hikes that didn’t really end how/where we expected.
